Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of the Selerne website, app and services (the “Service”). By using the Service you accept them. The Romanian version is the reference text.

1. Who we are

Selerne is an independent project based in Romania and is in the process of being incorporated. Until then, the data controller and responsible person is its founder, Apostol-Iordache Matei, reachable at hello@selerne.com. This section will list the company's name, tax ID, registration number and registered office as soon as it is incorporated.

2. What Selerne offers

Selerne helps you discover, plan and organise trips with an AI assistant. Accommodation is provided by hotels and flights by airlines, through booking suppliers we work with. The hotel or airline is the one that performs the travel service.

Current stage. The Service is in beta. Booking is open only to a group of testers, against the suppliers' test environments: no real money is taken and no real bookings are made. Real bookings will open only once the company is incorporated, holds a tourism licence and has insolvency insurance; these terms will then be completed with the information Romanian package-travel law (OG 2/2018) requires.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18. You agree to give accurate information, keep your password safe and tell us if you suspect unauthorised use. You can delete your account at any time from your Profile.

4. Recommendations, prices and availability

The assistant's suggestions may be incomplete or out of date; check the details before booking. Prices come from the suppliers and can change until you book. Before booking, Selerne asks the supplier for the confirmed price; if it differs from what you saw, we show you the new price and do not book without your agreement.

5. Booking

Before you confirm, we show you the total price, the supplier's cancellation terms and the trip details, and you accept them explicitly. We keep a record of what you saw and accepted. You are responsible for correct names (exactly as on your ID), dates and travel documents (passport, visas, entry requirements).

6. Payment

• Payments are by card, through a licensed payment processor, in euros. Selerne never sees or stores your full card number.
• The amount is first authorised (held) on your card. We take it only after the supplier confirms the booking.
• If the supplier does not confirm, the authorisation is cancelled and the hold released, with nothing taken.
• The amount taken is the one the supplier confirmed and you accepted; we never take more than you authorised.

7. Cancellations, changes and refunds

The supplier's cancellation terms, shown before booking, apply. For a booking cancelled within the refundable window we refund to the same card. Cancellation or change fees charged by the supplier are outside Selerne's control.

Right of withdrawal. Under art. 16(l) of Romanian Emergency Ordinance 34/2014, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to accommodation and transport services provided on a specific date or in a specific period. Cancellation is therefore only on the supplier's terms.

8. Complaints

Write to hello@selerne.com with your booking number. We acknowledge it and answer within 30 days.

For complaints we cannot resolve together, consumers may contact Romania's National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) and its alternative dispute resolution (SAL) procedure.

9. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service for anything unlawful, enter false traveller or payment details, try to access accounts or systems without permission, scrape the Service, or try to get keys or passwords out of the assistant. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

10. Intellectual property

The Selerne brand, design, software and original content belong to us or our licensors.

11. Liability

We are not responsible for services performed by hotels and airlines, or for delays or cancellations they decide, beyond the obligations the law places on us. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the booking concerned. Nothing in these terms restricts your statutory consumer rights.

13. Changes

We may update these terms; we will change the date above and tell you about significant changes. Bookings already made stay under the terms accepted when they were made.

14. Governing law

Romanian law applies. If you are a consumer you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence, and disputes may be heard by the competent courts where you live.
